Having grown up outside of a Seattle, logging trucks were a regular part of my childhood. You'd see them all over the place. The trees they carried were smaller than the ones you see here from the early century, but they would still pack a load and they would be coming out of the hills at high speed. Logging trucks were a huge innovation for the lumber industry and allowed for easier removal of trees from remote areas. Sadly, the were so effective that it is hard to find many of the giant trees outside of the national and state parks, but at the time, and even today, people saw lumber as a vital resource and and it was critical for the development of the nation.
